Sexual fantasy

Main finding

Almost all adults report having sexual fantasies. Fantasies are not a sign of dissatisfaction; people who fantasise more tended to report fewer sexual problems, not more.

What was done

Harold Leitenberg and Kris Henning reviewed the research on sexual fantasies – how common they are, what they are about and how they relate to sexual well-being.

What the study does not show

A review of mostly self-report surveys from earlier decades, largely from North America. The links it describes are correlations, not causes.
