The Female Sexual Response: A Different Model
Listen instead of reading · 35 minDirty Mind: Dirty Talk Hypnosis – Find Your Own WordsNo script, no borrowed lines: a trance that lets your own words out – in a lower, slower voice. Basson, R. · Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy, 26(1), 51–65
Main finding
Desire can be responsive rather than spontaneous – it may follow arousal instead of preceding it.
What was done
Rosemary Basson proposed a circular model of sexual response. Desire is often not the starting point; many people begin from closeness or a willingness to be touched, and desire can arise once arousal has started.
What the study does not show
A model based on clinical experience with women, not a single experiment. It describes many experiences well but not everyone's.
